About Odisha Pollutin Control :

     The most significant regulatory changes have been the introduction of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, an umbrella act which was enacted in 1986 wherein, the State Pollution Control Board has been entrusted with varied of responsibilities. The various notifications and rules under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, in which State Pollution Control Boardplays a very important role, are the following:

1. Hazardous Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 1989 amended in 2000
2. Manufacture, use, import, Export, Storage of Hazardous Microorganism, Genetically Engineered Organisms or Cells Rules, 1989.
3. Manufacture, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemical Rules, 1989,amended in 2000.
4. Director (Environment), Forest & Environment Department, Government of Orissa
5. Environment Audit Notification, 1993
6. EIA (27.01.1994) and Notification for conducting public hearing (10.04.1997) prior to the issue of NOC (Consent to establish a statutory requirement under EP Act and rules)
7. Coastal Regulation Zone Notification, 1991
8. Chemical Accidents (Emergency Planning, Preparedness & Response) Rules, 1996
9. Biomedical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 1998
10. Municipal Solid Wastes (Management & Handling) Rules, 2000
